From 1818 Verboeckhoven was a pupil of Balthasar-Paul Ommeganck, whose classical pastoral landscapes became a model for his own paintings, such as the Landscape with Cattle and A Cowherd by a Tree on display at the Rijkmuseum in Amsterdam...
