Born in London, the son of an artist-craftsman, Frederick Pomeroy was an early sculptor member of the Arts and Crafts movement. He studied under Jules Dalou at Lambeth School of Art; at the Royal Academy Schools, 1881-85 (gold medal and travelling scholarship, 1885) . Studied under Jean Antonin Mercie in Paris, and later went to Rome. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1885, and also showed at the Arts & Crafts exhibitions from 1888.
