Soon after the war Hans Ittmann went to Paris on a scholarship from the French government and he remained there until 1948. Ittmann worked in a variety of materials and even before his arrival in Paris he had produced abstract work in which expressive forms drift like fragments of brightly coloured, collage like, on a background of saturated colours. Soon after the war Hans Ittmann went to Paris on a scholarship from the French government and he remained there until 1948. Ittmann worked in a variety of materials and even before his arrival in Paris he had produced abstract work in which expressive forms drift like fragments of brightly coloured, collage like, on a background of saturated colours. In 1951 he was invited to become a member of the artist group 'Creatie: de vereniging voor Absolute Abstractie', that was later transformed in the group 'Liga Nieuwe Beelden'.
