After serving in the war and being a prisoner of war, he studied with Kurt Masslow at the Leipzig Academy of Graphics and Book Art from 1945 to 1948. After serving in the war and being a prisoner of war, he studied with Kurt Masslow at the Leipzig Academy of Graphics and Book Art from 1945 to 1948.
