Born in Baissour, Lebanon in 1948, Jamil Molaeb studied at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Lebanese University—where he studied under such prominent figures as Chafic Abboud and Paul Guiragossian—before being awarded a one-year scholarship to attend the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Algeria. Residing in Lebanon during the first half of the Lebanese Civil War, he continued to be an active member of the local art scene despite the outbreak of large-scale violence, exhibiting individually...
