In 1640 Picart became a member of the Saint Luke’s guild and worked both as a painter and a dealer in the city of Paris. He opened a workshop for young Netherlandish artists who made the move to Paris to start their careers and influenced the work of French artists Francois Garnier (c.1600-1672) and Augustin Bouquet (fl. 1625-1660).
