Jesús Casaus was a Spanish artist who studied at the Baixas Academy and the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He was influenced by the fauvist experiences and the strength of color of Albert Marquet during his training in Paris. Casaus was known for his figurative art and his unique depictions of sea life and the architecture of his native Barcelona and the town of Cudillero in Asturias. Jesús Casaus was a Spanish artist who studied at the Baixas Academy and the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He was influenced by the fauvist experiences and the strength of color of Albert Marquet during his training in Paris. Casaus was known for his figurative art and his unique depictions of sea life and the architecture of his native Barcelona and the town of Cudillero in Asturias. He lived most of his life between these two places. In 2008, an anthological exhibition was held in his honor at the Real Circulo Artistico de Barcelona, and a national painting competition has been held in his name in Cudillero since 2005. Jesús Casaus is represented at MACBA.
