Jiri Balcar was a painter, graphic artist and typographer who studied art history at Charles University and typography at Vysoká School of Applied Arts. He was exhibiting in the group May 57 and in the 60s was among the most progressive young authors. Balcar created a number of book covers and posters in which he made use of his experience from his creative stay in the United States. From there, he brought pop art to Czechoslovakia, which is also characteristic of his painting and graphic work.... Read full biography
