He was the son of Balthazar Francis Xavier, counselor, police officer and diet of the messenger, and Anna Clara Ackermann. Wyrsch began his artistic education 1745 as a portraitist with teachers Michael Suter in Lucerne and Franz Anton Kraus in Einsiedeln.
