He was a member of the Boston Art Club for eleven years and kept a studio in Boston, while living in Malden, MA . He was also a member of the Association of the Royal Canadian Academy. In the summer of 1874 he visited the salon of the famed poet Celia Thaxter at the Isles of Shoals in Rye, New Hampshire. There he painted with Childe Hassam, William Trost Richards and Arthur Quartley. He is known for his White Mountain landscapes including "Echo Lake at Franconia Notch" and "By the Boathouse At Echo Lake" and also for the seascape "Moonrise at the Isles of Shoals"...
