Of his architectural career, it is written that he "participated in most of the significant American architectural and urban design projects undertaken between 1900 and 1930." (Pasquine, 243). He was born in St Louis, Missouri on November 18, 1866 and moved to Chicago with his family in 1880. Of his architectural career, it is written that he "participated in most of the significant American architectural and urban design projects undertaken between 1900 and 1930." (Pasquine, 243). He was born in St Louis, Missouri on November 18, 1866 and moved to Chicago with his family in 1880. While still in his teens, he worked as an assistant to a scene painter, and it is likely he was with Ernest Albert, who had a set design and scene painting business. While still in his teens, he worked as an assistant to a scene painter, and it is likely he was with Ernest Albert, who had a set design and scene painting business.
