Born in 1972 in Lintau, West Sumatra, Indonesia, a co-founder and member of the Jendela Art Group, Jumaldi Alfi has consistently been exploring new possibilities in painting traditional southeast asian art. He attended the Indonesian High School of Arts in Yogyakarta in 1993, and furthered his art education after that by attending the Indonesian Institute of Arts, also located in Yogyakarta, in 1999. He attended the Indonesian High School of Arts in Yogyakarta in 1993, and furthered his art education after that by attending the Indonesian Institute of Arts, also located in Yogyakarta, in 1999. He has come to the conclusion that is painting is a personal therapy by which to accommodate and control various issue troubling his mind.
