Karl Bärenfänger (1888-?) first studied with Johan Thorn-Prikker at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld, then under Wilhelm Trübner at the Academy in Karlsruhe. Bärenfänger exhibited with the artists' group 'Das Junge Rheinland' and in 1925 he was honored with a solo exhibition by the Aachener Museums-Verein. His motifs included landscapes as well as still lifes and cityscapes. The artist's oeuvre shows characteristics of the Rhenish Expressionism, but was also influenced by the New Objectivity...
