In 1921, he was a pupil of Fernand Cormon and Jean-Paul Laurens at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Louis won the Silver medal at the Salon des artistes français where he exhibited from 1924 to 1929. He also obtained a grant from the Algerian government.
