Louis Charles Vogt was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1864. Vogt studied with Frank Duveneck and Charles Meurer at the Cincinnati Art Academy, and in New York City with Henry Siddons Mowbray. During most of his career he maintained a studio in Cincinnati; however, he spent much of his life traveling about the U.S. as an illustrator for Harper's and Century magazines.
