In 1945 he returned to Italy and worked as a journalist after the war, traveling to many countries in South America, whose culture but also poverty and oppression he captured in his paintings. In the 50s, Lucio Ranucci was represented in numerous important group exhibitions, including the 'Biennale de Panamericana Mexico' in 1958 and the 'Biennale de Sao Paulo'. Many of his paintings are to be found in private collections and public galleries in Central and South America.
