She later studied at the Boston Museum School, California College of Arts and Crafts (she later taught there), San Francisco Institute of Art, and with Armin Hansen in Monterey. In 1920 she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and lived there for many years in a home on Mesa Road. Working in oil and watercolor, much of her subject matter was of the people, buildings, and landscapes of the Monterey Peninsula. Unmarried, Pierce died in La Jolla, CA on June 28, 1974.
