Manuel Pailós (Galicia, Spain, May 24, 1918-Montevideo, 2004) was a Uruguayan painter, sculptor and ceramist who stood out as one of the main figures of the torresgarciana current in Uruguay, a country that he arrived with his parents with few years of age and who later became a Uruguayan legal citizen. His training took place in the Círculo de Bellas Artes with Guillermo Laborde and José Cúneo Perinetti, and from 1942 with Joaquín Torres García, in whose workshop he remained until the moment of its closure in 1967. He directed the Torres García Workshop in its last years of operation, and was part of each of the exhibitions that were organized there.
