At the Glasgow School of Art she was quickly singled out, along with Eardley, by Hugh Adam Crawford, head of drawing and painting, for an experiment in which a very small number of outstanding students in that 1939 session were selected for special attention. This effectively amounted to a three-year course in two years, with Crawford himself as tutor. The war interrupted her painting career as did the bringing up of her children following her 1946 marriage to ceramicist James Robson. In 1970 she won the Guthrie Award of the Royal Scottish...
