Marie Henri Mackenzie (Rotterdam 1878-Hilversum, Netherlands 1961) trained at the Akademie of Rotterdam and after completion of his studies settled in Amsterdam, where he worked up until 1931. There he befriended George Hendrik Breitner (1857-1923) and is considered one of his proteges.
