Mia Munster was born in 1894 in Germany. She studied painting in Düsseldorf in 1912 and attended the Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Trade in Leipzig in 1919. From 1921 to 1923, she studied at the School of Applied Arts in Munich and worked as a commercial graphic artist and illustrator. Between 1928 and 1932, she lived in Berlin.
