He settled in Paris in 1909, took classes from Matisse and in conjunction with Macdonald-Wright, synthesized their research into what they called Synchronism, meaning simply "with color." He settled in Paris in 1909, took classes from Matisse and in conjunction with Macdonald-Wright, synthesized their research into what they called Synchronism, meaning simply "with color." It combined the spatial figures of Cubism with full-blast color and pushed beyond any clear images into abstraction.
