Born in Toronto, Ontario, Paul Rodrik studied with his father, Franz Johnston, a founding member of the Group of Seven. He also studied with Fred Haines at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto, and with Charles Goldhamer at the Central Technical School, Toronto. He travelled and painted in the Canadian Arctic including Baffin Island and Labrador. Working in an expressionist style, mainly in oil, but also ink, watercolour, acrylic and gouache, he is known for his representational and semi-abstract landscapes. He changed his name to Rodrik, a family name, about 1946. He wrote a biography of his father and was an inventor. He died in Bancroft, Ontario. He exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy in 1958.
