The French sculptor Prosper Lecourtier was born in Meuse in 1851. He received his artistic training under Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1910) in Paris. In 1875 he first took part in the exhibitions of the Paris Salon and was henceforth regularly represented with works. Lecourtier repeatedly received the prestigious award of a medal; at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900, he obtained, for example, the bronze medal.
