Around 1958, he turned to painting and was self-taught until he became a student of the artist Heinz Kreutz from 1961 to 1963. In 1963, he moved to Basel and worked as an IT communications clerk while pursuing his artistic career. He was a member of the Society for New Art and undertook study trips to various countries. He spent annual stays in the Centovalli in Ticino from 1967. He died in Basel in 1996.
