Rolf Vollé was born in Basel and was the painter of landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. Vollé received his training from Anton Kolig in Vienna. After study trips to Italy and Holland, he became assistant to Herbert Böckl at the Academy in Vienna. From 1949 he was member of the Vienna Secession and participated in many of their exhibitions. In 1952 he moved back to his hometown of Basel.
