His work stands alongside that of contemporaries such as Henryk Stazewski, Adam Marczynski, Maria Ewa Lunkiewicz, Jerzy Kalucki, and Bohdan Urbanowicz, many of whom were associated with the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw. Owidzki studied at the University of Warsaw (1931–1934) before enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1935–1939), where he trained under Karol Tichy.
