Rowland Hill was born in Belfast in 1919. When Hill was just fourteen years old he left school to work, but attended night classes at the Belfast Technical College and the Belfast College of Art. He exhibited at the Ulster Academy of Arts when he was only sixteen years old. According to Snoddy he received encouragement and guidance from James Humbert Craig. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy in 1964 and exhibited a total of 17 works at the Royal Hibernian Academy between... Read full biography
Rowland Hill was born in Belfast in 1919. When Hill was just fourteen years old he left school to work, but attended night classes at the Belfast Technical College and the Belfast College of Art. He exhibited at the Ulster Academy of Arts when he was only sixteen years old. According to Snoddy he received encouragement and guidance from James Humbert Craig. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy in 1964 and exhibited a total of 17 works at the Royal Hibernian Academy between 1935 and 1966. He exhibited at the Magee Gallery, Belfast and the Cooling Galleries, London and Toronto. Rowland’s subject matter consists mainly of landscapes, mostly of Donegal, where he went on painting trips with Theo Gracey and Padraic Woods.... Read full biography
