Rudolf Hirth Du Frenes was a German painter who began his artistic education at a young age, attending the Nuremberg School of Arts and Crafts at 15. He later studied at the Munich Academy from 1865 to 1875. In 1866, Hirth founded a joint studio with fellow artists Alt, Leibl, and Sperl, forming what became known as the Leibl circle.
