In 1903 he travelled through the South American Cordillera with the geographer Hans Meyer, and visited Ecuador’s 6,263 metre-high Chimborazo volcano, covered by glaciers. Reschreiter largely painted watercolours and was particularly renowned for his hyper-realistic natural depictions. In 1903 he travelled through the South American Cordillera with the geographer Hans Meyer, and visited Ecuador’s 6,263 metre-high Chimborazo volcano, covered by glaciers. Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria acquired the gouache Chimorazo directly from the artist in 1906. Rudolf Robert Reschreiter passed away in 1939 in Munich, Germany.
