Theobald Michau was born in 1676 in Tournai. He was a student of Lucas Achtellinck in Bruxelles and worked in his atelier from 1686 to 1698. He is famous for being a specialist for genre scenes and landscapes. Theobald Michau studied painting since 1688 in Brussels with Lucas Achtschellinck. He became master of the Guild of Painters of Brussels in 1698, and also of the Guild of Antwerp, in 1710. Theobald Michau was born in 1676 in Tournai. He was a student of Lucas Achtellinck in Bruxelles and worked in his atelier from 1686 to 1698. He is famous for being a specialist for genre scenes and landscapes. Theobald Michau studied painting since 1688 in Brussels with Lucas Achtschellinck. He became master of the Guild of Painters of Brussels in 1698, and also of the Guild of Antwerp, in 1710. His work consists of works of small format with landscapes and characters in scenes of daily life, in which the influence of Jan Brueghel, Peeter Bout and David Teniers II (in the figures). His work was widely disseminated through engraving. The artist passed away in 1765 in Antwerp.
