Victor Isbrand painted professionally from a young age and was invited to exhibit at the 1915 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition, two years before he graduated from the Copenhagen Academy of Fine Arts. Over the course of a long career, he was the recipient of national scholarships and stipends including the Ronge (1917), the Charlottenborg Art Academy (1919-1920) and the State Art Foundation Scholarship (1978-1988). He exhibited widely and with success including, for over seventy years, at both the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Kunsthalle Charlottenborg.
