Victor Rousseau, a Belgian sculptor, was born into a family of stonemasons and studied under sculptor Georges Houstont before attending the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He won the Godecharles competition in 1890 and later traveled to England, Italy, and France, where he was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement. Many of his works are now part of the collection at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels.
