Walter Brackett was known for his fish and game still lifes, popular with many sportsmen in the late 19th Century. He also painted many portraits. Brackett was born in Unity, Maine and his younger brother was sculptor Edward A. Brackett. He settled his studio in Boston, supporting his family at first with portraiture.
