His early career is marked by exceptional portraits but in later years, he devoted a great deal of time to painting animals. He did especially fine work in his paintings of dogs. Other works were known to be used by calendar firms that distributed all over the world. Bruce was known as a genial person and as a conversationalist. He was thoroughly liked and respected by a large circle of friends. He died at 50 years of age after a brief... Read full biography

His early career is marked by exceptional portraits but in later years, he devoted a great deal of time to painting animals. He did especially fine work in his paintings of dogs. Other works were known to be used by calendar firms that distributed all over the world. Bruce was known as a genial person and as a conversationalist. He was thoroughly liked and respected by a large circle of friends. He died at 50 years of age after a brief illness from Bright's disease and heart failure.
