In his leisure he studied at the New York School of Art, Independent School of Art, and with Robert Henri. In 1913 he retired from the stock market to devote his life to art. He then moved to Santa Barbara, CA into a studio-home at 1300 Los Albertos Road. He died there on Feb. 5, 1957.
