William H. Weisman received his art education at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and worked in Philadelphia and Detroit before moving to Franconia, New Hampshire in 1878. His home and studio were on the Agassiz Road between Franconia and Bethlehem near the source of the Weisman Brook, which was named for him. His home and studio were on the Agassiz Road between Franconia and Bethlehem near the source of the Weisman Brook, which was named for him. In 1890 the White Mountain Echo, a weekly newspaper, reported: "Mr. W. H. Weisman, the artist, has again opened his White Mountain studio in Franconia.
