But whatever the subject, whatever the medium, his work is always imbued with a delicate and reticent fantasy. His colors are muted. He evokes nostalgic memories, often moods of poetic aloofness. His early training was received in the Art School in Columbus, Ohio. Later he worked with Robert Henri, Kenneth Hayes Miller and Walt Kuhn in New York. Since 1934 he has been a regular and most successful contributor to the Annual May Shows at the Cleveland Museum of Art, winning many prizes.
