During this time, he became a member of the Chinese Artists' Association and in subsequent years, Professor of the Academy. Xue is also a member of the Oil Painting Institute of China. During this time, he became a member of the Chinese Artists' Association and in subsequent years, Professor of the Academy. Xue is also a member of the Oil Painting Institute of China. His formative works were greatly influenced by Russian art, to which period 'Haystack', 'A Naked Older' and 'Teachers' are attributed. However, over the course of his graduate student programme, he was exposed the work of the Italian Renaissance Masters and his mature style combines these influences with traditional Chinese characteristics.
