In 1989 he came to the United States at the invitation of the Washington State Centennial Committee for the Pacific Rim Cultural Communication Project. In 1989 he came to the United States at the invitation of the Washington State Centennial Committee for the Pacific Rim Cultural Communication Project. He became the artist in residence at the host College, Cornish College for the Arts, in Seattle. In 1991 he was the artist in residence for Whitman College in Walla Walla. He now lives with his wife and two children in a home overlooking Puget Sound near Seattle. It was in Walla Walla that he became inspired by the Northwest landscape of rolling fields.
