Unlike most artists who spend years struggling to establish themselves, Leslie quickly gained a reputation as a second generation Abstract Expressionist. Geometric abstraction and collaged realistic elements were sandwiched between Leslie's initial Abstract Expressionism and the ultimate realism of his artistic evolution.
