Burton Boundey was a prolific painter in bold modernist style and muralist active in California during the early twentieth century. He was a native of Wisconsin, born in the town of Oconomowoc in 1879. Boundey pursued his early art education in Chicago, Illinois, at the Art Institute of Chicago and Smith Academy. He then went to New York City where he was a pupil of Robert Henri and George Bellows. In 1927 he moved to Monterey, California, and promptly opened a studio there. He taught at the... He taught at the nearby Carmel Art Institute and was a member of the American Artists Professional League.
