David Mach was born in Methil, Fife in Scotland in 1956. He studied from 1974-79 at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee and then at the Royal College of Art in London until 1982. The artist is not only known for his collages but also his large-scale sculptures in public spaces. In 1988 he was nominated for the Turner Prize by the Tate Gallery in London. David Mach was born in Methil, Fife in Scotland in 1956. He studied from 1974-79 at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee and then at the Royal College of Art in London until 1982. The artist is not only known for his collages but also his large-scale sculptures in public spaces. In 1988 he was nominated for the Turner Prize by the Tate Gallery in London. In 1998 he became a member of the Royal Academy where he also taught as a professor in 2000. Since 2006 David Mach is a board member of the National Portrait Gallery.
