He studied for three years at the American Academy of Art and then with Irving Shapiro, a watercolor specialist, and Bill Parks. With the help of Parks, he obtained a position as illustrator in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent four years as a commercial artist while studying painting at night. He studied for three years at the American Academy of Art and then with Irving Shapiro, a watercolor specialist, and Bill Parks. With the help of Parks, he obtained a position as illustrator in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent four years as a commercial artist while studying painting at night. Fritzler, who only paints in watercolor, credits the artists Donald Teague and John Singer Sargent for inspiring him in his work with the medium. In May, 1979, he and his wife moved to Colorado, and from that time he earned his living as a fine art painter. The couple opened an art gallery from where he sells his own work.
