Grace Medicine Flower was born in 1938 to Agapita and Camilio Tafoya at Santa Clara Pueblo New Mexico. Her brother is Joseph Lonewolf, also a noted pottery artist. In the late 1960s Lonewolf created a new style of sgrafitto* carving of small stone burnished seed jars, which led to Grace and their father Camilio all following in that genre.
