He studied with classically trained English portrait painter Alvin Gittins and earned an M.F.A. Degree in fine arts from the University of Utah at Salt Lake City. He also traveled extensively in Europe, studying the Old Masters, including a year in Spain when he became interested in plein-air painting. This interest was reinforced when he...
