He lives in El Monte, California, and says he has been much influenced by the French Impressionists. He was born in Guangdon, in southern China, and was raised on a farm. After the turbulent political period calmed, he studied at the Guangzhous Fine Arts Institute in China and then became an art teacher at his former high school.
