Committed to traditional painting styles, Phil Starke studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Central Missouri State University over seven years. Travel has allowed Starke to stay fresh, preferring to paint en plein air, in a style of realistic impressionism of landscapes and figures, with many of them being of southwest subjects, and he also does numerous mural commissions. He spent much of his life in Kansas City, Missouri, and in the 1990s, he and his wife Shari moved from Kansas City to Tucson, AZ because he was attracted to... Read full biography
