He remembers seeing a "truly good painting for the first time; that's when I decided I wanted to become a painter.". He began to paint outdoors and took a couple of outdoor painting workshops. Landscape painter, Glenn Dean was born in Torrance, California. In his 20s, he attended a junior college in San Diego for a few years and tried body-boarding as a career. He remembers seeing a "truly good painting for the first time; that's when I decided I wanted to become a painter.". He began to paint outdoors and took a couple of outdoor painting workshops. However, he was not satisfied with this and turned to learn from early California Impressionists. He studied the techniques of Edgar Payne, Maynard Dixon, and William Wendt. Dean lives in Los Osos, California, and is working on adding a 600 square-foot studio. He prefers painting outdoors to the indoors, but outside the work is quick and decisive and inside he can spend more time on... Read full biography
