He found his motifs primarily on Capri, Sicily, on the Amalfi coast, near Naples and Sorrento, as well as on the cliffs of England and Scotland, in Dalmatia, at Lake Constance and in the port of Hamburg. From 1893, he sent his work to the Munich Glass Palace and from 1899-1910, he was the managing director of the art exhibitions in the Glass Palace Munich.
